About this Artwork
Fuel Flowers is an installation of roadside guide-posts that simulates a field of futuristic, luminescent flowers. The work comments on the continued proliferation of greenhouse emissions, suggesting a future where a viable and popular genetically modified crop is being grown and harvested primarily for use as fuel oil. The work interacts readily with various sites by expressing different stages in its imaginative history, from initial test plantings to its eventual outbreak as a horticultural pest.
