About this Artwork
Crossing the Merri focuses on the dirty, overgrown with weeds and rubbish-infested Merri Creek. Its willow and poplar treed banks contribute to an Old English feel except that they are riddled by grimy garbage. This strange entanglement of limbs and trash creates a disturbing atmosphere in which a couple is staged to suggest an open-ended narrative.
