today
there was no horizon
sky
was all at sea
no edges
just mist
drawing me
from fear
drawing fear
from me
About this poem
I was coming around the bend in Ocean Grove and there was such a mist that the sky and sea seemed to have blurred into one. That got me thinking about boundaries, edges and ‘mystery’.
About Janette Fernando
I’ve always loved words and found myself writing poetry on a school trip (as a teacher) to Central Australia in 1990. Since then I’ve joined the Wordsmiths of Melbourne poetry group and am now Managing Editor of Poetica Christi Press (which is a labour of love!). I had my first collection, “Two Edged”, published for my 50th birthday in 2005. I’m married to Roger and have four grown-up children. I also enjoy doing relief teaching at Mt Evelyn Christian School, reading, photography, walking and mentoring a child for an hour a week for World Vision’s ‘Kids Hope’ programme.
