A TIMID WORK FRIENDSHIP
A timid work friendship
is growing between us
with gentle conversations
in the elevator
and more of the same
on the train home,
except for every third
or fourth day,
when we allow ourselves
the privacy
of ignoring each other
so that we both
can catch up on our reading.
