About this Rooku
Arriving home late one night, I was struck by the luminosity of the clouds. Somehow, they reminded me of maps drawn in school geography class: frenzied colouring around the coastline of Australia in such a way as to mimic the foam created by breaking waves. I scribbled down this 3-line description, stuck it in the kitchen drawer, figured I’d come back to it at some later stage. Some later stage turned out to be the 2007 Moving Galleries competition.
About Kirsty Kain
Kirsty Kain is a 33-year-old teacher, living in North Carlton. She began composing poetry as a child, starting her illustrious career writing fractured fairy tales, and a recount of "Seven Little Australians." After a fairly lengthy teen-angst period, she moved on to writing rather more "adult" poetry for friends' hen's nights. Kirsty's style has since matured, and the results can be seen here.
